Guwahati, March 28 (HS): Senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to arrive in Guwahati today on a two-day visit to Assam in view of the ongoing Assembly elections. During his visit, he will participate in political rallies, a roadshow, and hold key meetings with party leaders to strategize for the polls.

According to Assam BJP president and MP Dilip Saikia, Shah is scheduled to land at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport at around 2:35 PM. He will then proceed to Koinadhara Guest House, where he will review election preparedness with senior party leaders. Later, he is expected to leave at 3:50 PM to take part in a major roadshow in Guwahati at 4:15 PM. In the evening, around 6 PM, Shah will attend a series of meetings with senior BJP leaders and party groups at the state BJP office.

However, continuous rainfall in Guwahati since last night has posed challenges to ongoing election campaigns across the city. Uncertainty looms over the planned roadshow, and it remains to be seen how the party adjusts its arrangements if the weather conditions persist.

On March 29, Shah will continue his campaign in different parts of Assam, addressing election rallies in Dhekiajuli and Samata in the Tihu area. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, along with senior party leaders and allies, is expected to accompany him during these events.

The BJP has made extensive preparations for Shah’s visit, with the party fielding around 40 star campaigners, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the coming days, several prominent leaders such as Rajnath Singh and other chief ministers are also expected to campaign in Assam. Meanwhile, opposition leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi are slated to visit the state for election campaigning.-----------
