Darrang (Assam), 24 March (HS): A major wave of defections has struck the Congress in Assam’s Dalgaon constituency, with hundreds of party workers resigning from the party, signaling growing internal discontent ahead of the elections.
According to local sources, the workers decided to quit the party expressing strong resentment over what they alleged as the leadership’s decision to “abandon the constituency.” The move has triggered widespread dissatisfaction among grassroots members.
The sudden exodus is being seen as a setback for the Congress in the region, as the party struggles to maintain unity and confidence among its cadre during a crucial electoral period.------------
