Sivasagar (Assam), 24 March (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a sharp attack on the opposition while campaigning in Sivasagar, urging voters to support the BJP-led alliance for continued progress and development in the state.
Addressing to media last night, the Chief Minister said that voting for “Chuma Baba” would yield no benefit and appealed to the people of Sivasagar to cast their votes in favour of the BJP alliance to ensure sustained development. He asserted that the region’s future depends on stability and a development-oriented government.
Responding to allegations made by Akhil Gogoi against BJP candidate Kushal Duwari, the Chief Minister said the accusations were baseless and devoid of facts. He criticised Gogoi for indulging in misinformation instead of constructive politics.
Raising a serious concern, Dr. Sarma questioned who would take responsibility for the tragic death of Pranab Boro, and further alleged that many youths in Assam have suffered due to misguided politics. He asked the public to reflect on who is accountable for the destruction of young lives in the state.
“The people of Sivasagar will decide and vote for the deserving candidate,” he said, expressing confidence in the electorate’s wisdom.
Meanwhile, BJP President Dilip Saikia claimed that the people of Sivasagar are seeking relief from Akhil Gogoi this time, indicating a possible shift in the political mood of the constituency.-----------
