
Amaravati/New Delhi, March 24 (H.S.): The Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0, aiming to provide safe drinking water to every rural household by 2028.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who participated virtually in the MoU signing programme held in New Delhi, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply in rural areas.
Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil appreciated the state government’s efforts and said the first phase of the mission had already provided tap connections to 16 crore households across the country, while about three crore households are yet to be covered.
Naidu thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending the Jal Jeevan Mission till 2028 and sought continued support for completion of the Polavaram project.
Officials said operation and maintenance of rural water supply systems have been entrusted to local panchayats. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan is closely monitoring the implementation of the mission.
Senior officials from the Centre and the State also participated in the programme.
