Guwahati, 23 March (HS): Manjeet Singh, a retired IAS officer, has assumed charge as the Special Observer appointed by the Election Commission of India for ensuring the free and fair conduct of the forthcoming Assam Legislative Assembly Elections 2026.

Manjeet Singh arrived at the state headquarters in Guwahati on Monday and will oversee matters related to the electoral process. His appointment is aimed at strengthening transparency and maintaining the integrity of the elections.

According to an official press statement, the Special Observer will be available to receive representations from political parties, social organisations and members of the general public regarding any issues linked to the conduct of the elections.

All concerned individuals can directly contact the Special Observer between 11 am and 5 pm to raise grievances or concerns pertaining to the electoral process.----------
