
Bhubaneswar, 21 March (H.S.): PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, Bhubaneswar hosted Prof. Kanhaiya Tripathi, an esteemed representative of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Government of India, during a significant visit aimed at strengthening human rights awareness in schools. He was accompanied by Dr. Prajnya Paramita Jena, ADEO (Academics), Khurda District, and Mr. Jyotiranjan Das, Assistant Professor.
During their visit, the dignitaries conducted a detailed inspection of the school’s infrastructure, including classrooms, laboratories, the library, medical facilities, sanitation areas, and the school garden. They expressed satisfaction with the well-maintained facilities and appreciated the institution’s sustained efforts in fostering a safe, inclusive, and student-friendly environment.
Prof. Tripathi commended the school’s initiatives related to human rights education and praised the dedication of both teaching and non-teaching staff. In his interaction with the school community, he highlighted the importance of promoting human rights awareness from an early age and emphasized the need for a structured and inclusive approach within the education system. Acting on his guidance, the Vidyalaya has introduced several initiatives, including the establishment of a Human Rights Cell, formation of a Human Rights Club involving students and teachers, and the integration of human rights awareness segments into morning assemblies. The school has also organized poem competitions on human rights themes, conducted cyber awareness programmes, and implemented initiatives supported by UNICEF.
