Guwahati, 21 March (HS): In a significant political development, the Congress party suffered a major setback in Bihpuria as 17 of its leaders formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of BJP Candidate and former Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Bora.
Apart from that among the prominent leaders switching sides was former Dumduma MLA and APCC vice-president Dilip Moran, whose resignation from the Congress marks a notable defection ahead of the elections.
Dilip Moran was reportedly a ticket aspirant from the newly formed Makum assembly constituency, adding further political weight to his move. His departure is expected to impact the Congress’s prospects in the region as the party gears up for the upcoming assembly polls.---------
