
Guwahati, 02 March (HS): Even as political parties continue their vigorous campaign activities for the upcoming Assam Legislative Assembly elections, preparations have also begun for the Rajya Sabha elections scheduled to be held on March 16. With three Rajya Sabha seats from Assam set to fall vacant, political parties have intensified their efforts and calculations to ensure the victory of their respective candidates.
According to available information, five candidates from different political parties collected nomination papers on Monday. Parties including the Bharatiya Janata Party, All India United Democratic Front and Asom Jatiya Parishad have reportedly obtained nomination forms for the ensuing election.
It may be mentioned that the terms of three Rajya Sabha Members of Parliament from Assam — Bhubaneswar Kalita, Rameshwar Teli and Ajit Kumar Bhueyan is expired. Nomination papers will be examine on 6th March and candidates can be withdraw their nomination till 9th March. Counting and result is scheduled on 16th March. All the election process will be concluded within 20th March.----------
