Imphal, 19 March 19 (HS): Manipur Police and security forces have arrested three individuals, including two active cadres of a banned outfit, in separate operations across the state in last 24 hours, recovering contraband and other items from their possession.

In the first operation, Manipur Police arrested Anil Gautam (34), a resident of Toribari village under Kangpokpi Police Station in Senapati district, from a naka checkpoint at Phougakchao Ikhai Police Station in Bishnupur district. During the search, police seized approximately 1.5 kg of opium, a three-wheeler auto-rickshaw, a carry backpack, a mobile phone, and an Aadhaar card from his possession.

In a separate operation, security forces apprehended an extortionist identified as Moirangthem Jiten Singh alias Nanao (46), an active cadre of the banned KCP (PWG) outfit, from Kongba Laishram Leikai in Imphal East district. A mobile phone was recovered from him.

In another similar operation, security forces arrested Thokchom Devarani Devi (43), an active woman cadre of KCP (PWG), from her residence at Kongba Makha Ucheckon under Irilbung Police Station in Imphal East district. A mobile phone was also seized from her.

Further investigation is underway in all cases, officials said.---------------
