Kannur, 19 March (H.S.): Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate from Dharmadam constituency, will file his nomination papers on Thursday, formally marking the beginning of his election campaign for the upcoming Assembly polls.
According to party sources, Vijayan will submit his nomination at the Thalassery Registrar Office at 11 a.m. The Chief Minister is seeking a third consecutive term from Dharmadam, a constituency he has represented since 2016 and where he continues to enjoy strong political support.
In a notable gesture, the funds required for filing the nomination have been contributed by authorities of Gandhi Bhavan in Pathanapuram, reflecting continued grassroots backing for the veteran leader.
With this move, Vijayan is expected to become one of the first candidates in the state to file nomination papers for the Assembly election, signalling an early and assertive start to the LDF’s campaign.
The Chief Minister had already kick-started his campaign with a roadshow earlier this week, drawing significant public participation. He also attended a constituency-level convention held at Mambaram on Wednesday, where party workers and local leaders gathered in large numbers to extend their support.
Addressing the convention, Vijayan accused opposition parties of spreading misinformation against the LDF in a bid to mislead voters. He reiterated that the LDF government’s development record and welfare initiatives would stand as a strong counter to such campaigns.
The filing of nomination is expected to further intensify political activity in Dharmadam, with all major fronts gearing up for a closely watched contest in one of Kerala’s most high-profile constituencies.
