Guwahati, 19 March (HS): The Indian National Congress on Thursday announced its third list of candidates for the upcoming Assam Assembly Elections 2026, finalising nominees for 22 constituencies across the state.

According to an official statement issued by the party’s Central Election Committee, candidates have been named for several key constituencies including Kokrajhar (ST), Baokhungri, Parbatjhora, Dhubri, Jaleswar, Abhayapuri, Sidli-Chirang (ST), Chenga, Patacharkuchi, Baksa (ST), Tamulpur (ST), Udalguri (ST), Lahorighat, Nagaon-Batadraba, Naduar, Rangapara, Lakhimpur, Dhakuakhana (ST), Makum, Khumtai, Howraghat (ST), and Algapur-Katlichera.

Prominent names in the list include Manik Chandra Brahma from Kokrajhar (ST), Sapali Marak from Baokhungri, Md. Ashraful Islam Sheikh from Parbatjhora, Bebiz Begum from Dhubri, and Aftab Uddin Mollah from Jaleswar. Other candidates featured are Pradip Sarkar, Motilal Narzary, Abdur Rahim Ahmed, Zakir Hussain Sikdar, Jagadish Madahi, Rafi Daimary, Soren Daimary, Dr. Asif Mohammad Nazar, Dr. Durlav Chamua, Sunil Chhetri, Jayanta Khand, Ghan Budhagohain, Anand Narah, Shibnath Chetia, Rozelina Tirkey, Sanjib Teron, and Zubair Anam Mazumdar.

The list has been approved by the party’s Central Election Committee and was formally released by AICC General Secretary K. C. Venugopal.

With this announcement, the Congress continues to firm up its electoral strategy in Assam, while also engaging in discussions with other opposition parties to explore possible alliances ahead of the assembly polls.---------
