New Delhi/Guwahati, 18 March (HS): Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday following his recent resignation from the Congress and subsequent joining of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The meeting took place in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, highlighting the significance of Bordoloi’s induction into the BJP ahead of the 2026 Assam Assembly elections.

Sources indicated that discussions during the meeting revolved around the current political scenario in Assam and the party’s strategy for the upcoming elections. Bordoloi’s switch to the BJP is being seen as a major political development, potentially strengthening the party’s position in the state.

Earlier, Bordoloi had resigned from the Congress, citing dissatisfaction with the party’s functioning, before formally joining the BJP in New Delhi.---------------
