Nashik, 17 Mar (HS): The proposed bill related to

changing religion aims to prevent forceful conversion under duress or fraud,

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said. He was talking to the media in Nashik,

where he attended a marriage ceremony in BJP office bearer Vijay Chaudhary’s

family.

Fadnavis said that if anyone voluntarily wishes to

change the religion a 6-day notice in writing at the District Collector’s office

will have to be given. The proposed law mentions certain rules to be followed

before such change of religion. The law will be able to control fraudulent conversion

under pressures or duress. The government is preparing for further action on

the proposed law.
