Hooghly, 17 March (H.S.): A confidence building measure (CBM) route march was conducted in sensitive areas of the 186 Serampore Assembly constituency in West Bengal ahead of the elections, officials said.

The march saw participation of personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) along with local police, and was carried out in the presence of senior officials including the Deputy Commissioner of Police and the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), Serampore.

Officials said the initiative was aimed at instilling a sense of security and confidence among voters in the run-up to the electoral process.

The joint presence of civil administration and security forces was intended to reassure residents and reinforce preparedness for maintaining law and order, they said.

The route march covered key and sensitive pockets of the constituency, with officials also interacting with local residents to address concerns and spread awareness about ensuring a free, fair and peaceful election.
