15 March (HS): Over 710 cartons of Indian-made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth

approximately Rs 1.20 crore were confiscated in Uttar Pradesh's Chandauli, and

two smugglers were detained, police said on Sunday. Circle Officer (Sadar)

Devendra Kumar stated that the liquor was being smuggled from Noida to Bihar

via Chandauli. The police crew halted a truck near a gas pump in Barthi

Kamarour on National Highway-19 after receiving a tip. During the check, bags

of putty were discovered placed on the truck, and a search uncovered 710

cartons of IMFL hidden underneath them, he claimed, adding that the booze is

worth around Rs 1.20 crore.

The truck

driver, Ali Bakhsh (27), a native of Dumka in Jharkhand, was apprehended by

police. Another culprit, Murtaz Ansari (40), a native of Deoghar district, was

apprehended, along with a Mahindra Bolero that was reportedly used to transmit

location updates to the truck, the officer stated. A complaint has been filed
