Lucknow/Jaipur,

15 March (HS): Yogi Adityanath stated that Rani Padmini's sacrifice at

Chittorgarh fort represented women's dignity and determination to safeguard the

nation's honour. Addressing a crowd during the Jauhar Mela and homage ceremony

in Chittorgarh, Adityanath stated that the historic act of jauhar by Mewar women

signified courage, self-respect, and resolve. He was referring to the

historical practice of women mass-immolating themselves in order to avoid

arrest and torture when defeat in battle was inevitable.

Adityanath

stated that when his administration came to power, it implemented a

zero-tolerance policy toward crime and offenders while prioritizing women's

dignity and safety. Previously, many girls had to stay with relatives in remote

locations to finish their studies, but today they may remain at home and commute

five to ten kilometers to school, he added.

Daughters

and sisters in Uttar Pradesh may now work night shifts in offices and

industries and come home safely, he added, citing the state's better security

situation. The Uttar Pradesh chief minister stated that the motivation for

improvements in his state stemmed from Rajasthan's valor and traditions,

notably the heritage of Mewar and Chittorgarh.

He stated

that everytime the region's bravery and heroism are recognized, stories of

warrior courage and heroic women's sacrifices come to the forefront. He cited

the jauhar of Mewar ladies and Meera Bai's devotion as examples of traditions

that motivate the country. Prior to his speech, he went to the Jauhar site at

the fort and paid honor to the heroic ladies. He also prayed at the Kalika Mata

Temple.
