Hyderabad, 15 March (H.S.): Eleven persons, including former BRS MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy and TDP MP from Andhra Pradesh Putta Mahesh Yadav, were detained following a raid at a farmhouse in Moinabad on the outskirts of Hyderabad over alleged narcotics consumption, police officials said on Sunday.

According to officials, the raid was conducted on Saturday night by the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) Force along with local police based on specific information about a suspected drug party at the premises, which reportedly belongs to Rohith Reddy.

Police said preliminary medical tests indicated that Rohith Reddy tested positive for suspected narcotics consumption, while MP Putta Mahesh Yadav tested negative. Confirmatory reports are awaited.

Officials said the gathering was attended by real estate businessmen, professionals and political persons. A woman was also among those present.

During the operation, one of the detained individuals allegedly fired three rounds after noticing the police team. The weapon used in the incident was seized. No injuries were reported.

Police said all those detained were subjected to medical examination and further legal action would be initiated based on forensic reports and investigation findings.

Further investigation is underway.
