New Delhi, 14 March (H.S.): Amid West Asia conflicts, the Petroleum Ministry has resumed commercial LPG cylinder supplies across 29 states and union territories, with domestic gas deliveries accelerating rapidly.

Joint Secretary Sujata Sharma (Marketing) addressed a press conference Saturday, confirming ample LPG stocks but urging the public to avoid panic bookings, which have surged from 7.5-7.6 million on Friday to nearly 8.8 million. She highlighted two key tankers, Shivalik and Nanda, carrying 92,700 metric tons, having cleared the Strait of Hormuz en route to India—a major energy logistics feat.

Commercial allocations followed consultations with state governments, prioritizing businesses, while crude oil supplies remain steady and refineries operate at full capacity. Petrol and diesel are plentiful, with domestic production meeting needs—no imports required.

Sharma promoted shifting commercial users to Piped Natural Gas (PNG), with GAIL directing City Gas Distribution operators to expedite connections. No retail stockouts reported, but geopolitical tensions warrant vigilance.
