
Nagpur, 14 March (H.S.): Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy inaugurated several projects and laid their foundation stones during his two-day visit to Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) in Nagpur.The Coal Ministry stated Saturday that Minister G. Kishan Reddy virtually launched key initiatives during Friday's WCL visit and chaired a review meeting. These projects aim to bolster infrastructure, advance environmental efforts, and modernize mining operations.
During the event, the minister virtually flagged off 25 electric vehicles. Reddy also laid virtual foundation stones for the 'Black Diamond Sports Stadium' in Nagpur's Kamptee area, 'Swami Vivekananda Eco Park' in Wani's Tadali region, and the First Mile Connectivity project at Ballarpur's Sasti Open Cast Mine. These will enhance regional infrastructure, environmental conservation, and mining modernization.
Reddy reviewed WCL's coal production, safety, sustainable development, environmental protection, and future projects. In the meeting, he commended Team WCL's work culture and performance, expressing optimism for superior results this financial year.
WCL CMD Harish Duhan detailed FY 2025-26 achievements.
Attendees included Coal Ministry Additional Secretary Sanoj Kumar Jha, Coal India Ltd Chairman B. Sairam, and senior officials from the ministry, CIL, and WCL.The Coal Minister will inspect Murpar underground mine's closure process today and meet the district collector, mine closure advisory committee, WCL nodal officers, NGOs, consultants, and local village representatives.
