It affirmed that discussions continue toward a mutually beneficial trade agreement.The Commerce and Industry Ministry's statement addressed a report claiming stalled talks, clarifying no impasse exists and both sides remain engaged. This rebuttal gains significance amid the US Trade Representative's (USTR) March 11 initiation of a Section 301 probe targeting policies in 16 economies, including India and China.

Experts note the timing follows President Donald Trump's February 24 announcement of 10% tariffs on all nations for 150 days—later raised to 15%—after a US Supreme Court ruling nullified retaliatory duties. Amid these tensions, India emphasizes ongoing dialogue for equitable outcomes.
