Bhubaneswar, 14 March (H.S.): With the Rajya Sabha elections approaching, the Congress party in Odisha is facing uncertainty after it failed to establish contact with Mohana MLA Dasarathi Gamang. The development has drawn attention within political circles as the crucial vote nears.

Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Rama Chandra Kadam said that repeated attempts to reach the legislator have not been successful. According to him, Gamang has not been responding to phone calls despite continuous efforts by party leaders.

Kadam stated that both the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) leadership and leaders from the All India Congress Committee (AICC) are trying to contact the MLA to understand the situation.

“OPCC president and AICC leaders are closely monitoring the matter to determine whether he is unable to contact us due to some problem. We hope he will arrive on time. No extreme situation has arisen so far. The Congress follows a policy of zero tolerance and will take strict action against any irregularity,” Kadam said.

Despite the lack of communication, the Congress leadership has expressed confidence that Gamang will vote in favour of the party’s Rajya Sabha candidate, Datteswar Hota.

The party has also issued a warning that strict disciplinary action will be taken if any MLA engages in cross-voting during the election.
