New Delhi, 13 March (H.S.): The Supreme Court refused to entertain a petition seeking curbs on alleged disinformation surrounding claims of adulteration in Tirupati temple prasadam. A bench led by Chief Justice Suryakant noted that a criminal case is underway with an active investigation.
The court advised petitioners to lodge complaints with the appropriate forum, emphasizing that probe findings would be presented in the relevant court. It clarified that investigative agencies must complete their work unhindered by public discourse.
The plea had urged the Andhra Pradesh government to restrain individuals and organizations from propagating the controversy via hoardings, posters, and public statements. Recall that on October 4, 2024, the apex court formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the allegations, tasking the CBI Director with oversight.
