New Delhi, 12 March (H.S.): Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and several other leaders paid heartfelt tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and freedom fighters on the 96th anniversary of the Dandi March today.The Vice President posted on X: I bow to Bapu and all the brave freedom fighters who participated in this historic march.

As we build Atmanirbhar Bharat and march towards Viksit Bharat, the spirit of self-reliance inspired by this Satyagraha will continue to guide our nation.

Prime Minister Modi recalled: On this day in 1930, the Dandi March began. I pay homage to all the luminaries who participated.Om Birla stated that the courageous foot march ignited the freedom aspiration across India, uniting millions against colonial injustice, and remains an enduring symbol of national pride and the independence struggle.

Home Minister Amit Shah described it as a pivotal step towards Swadeshi that transformed the freedom movement. Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari noted Gandhi's launch from Sabarmati Ashram against the oppressive salt law, giving new direction to India's independence struggle.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge affirmed the enduring relevance of Gandhi's principles, bowing to the unparalleled contributions and sacrifices of freedom fighters. Minister of State for Science Jitendra Singh highlighted how the bold act inspired thousands and stands as one of the strongest movements against oppressors.

Renewable Energy Minister Prahlad Joshi emphasized the day recalls the courage, resolve, and collective strength that shaped India's path to freedom.
