
Bhubaneswar, 11 March (H.S.): In a notable political development, former Balasore Member of Parliament Rabindra Jena has resigned from the primary membership of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD). Jena submitted his resignation to the party supremo and former Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik.
In his resignation letter, Jena cited personal reasons and circumstances for stepping down and requested to be relieved immediately from all responsibilities associated with the party. While announcing his decision, he expressed gratitude for his long association with the BJD, describing his years with the party as memorable.
Rabindra Jena, a former representative of the Balasore Lok Sabha constituency, had been a prominent figure of the BJD in the region. His resignation has triggered discussions in political circles regarding the possible reasons behind his sudden exit.
According to sources, Jena is expected to formally join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the party’s state office. Reports suggest that several public representatives and supporters may accompany him during the joining programme. Sources further indicate that Jena had been dissatisfied with the BJD for some time and had recently been absent from party activities.
