Thiruvananthapuram, 10 March (H.S.):Kerala Transport Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar will not resign from the State Cabinet despite recent allegations raised by his wife, Bindu Menon. The decision came after the minister met Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and explained the circumstances surrounding the controversy, which the Left Democratic Front (LDF) leadership now believes has been resolved.

According to reports, Mr. Ganesh Kumar met the Chief Minister after the State Cabinet meeting in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday. During the meeting, he informed the Chief Minister that the issue was a family matter and that his wife had not filed any formal complaint against him. He also briefed the Chief Minister on the events that led to police arriving at his residence after an emergency call was reportedly made to the 112 helpline.

Sources said the minister clarified that police had reached the house following the call, but later left the premises after Bindu Menon informed them that it was a domestic issue and that no further action was required. After hearing the minister’s explanation and considering the absence of a formal complaint, the Chief Minister reportedly concluded that there was no need for the minister to resign.

Mr. Ganesh Kumar also attended the Cabinet meeting earlier in the day. According to officials present, the controversy surrounding the minister was not raised by any member during the meeting.

The issue had gained political attention after Bindu Menon’s remarks about the incident became public, prompting criticism from sections of the opposition who demanded the minister’s resignation. However, the situation appeared to ease after Bindu Menon stated that the matter had been resolved following an apology from the minister.

Reports suggest that after the controversy surfaced, Mr. Ganesh Kumar contacted several leaders of the Left Democratic Front to explain his position. He also reportedly spoke to Bindu Menon’s sister before reaching out directly to his wife. During the conversation, the minister apologised for the incident.

Following this, Bindu Menon reportedly informed that she did not wish to pursue any complaint and that the issue should be considered closed.

With Bindu Menon stating that the matter has been settled and no complaint pending, the LDF leadership believes the controversy surrounding the minister has effectively come to an end.
