-‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ sends a clear message: NDA government will return in Assam
Guwahati, March 10 (HS): The “Jan Ashirwad Yatra” launched by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on 28 February concluded successfully yesterday. Over the course of 8 days, the yatra covered 1,000 kilometres and connected directly with nearly 15 lakh people through 1,174 programmes, spanning 29 Assembly constituencies and 11 districts. The success of this yatra, which saw participation from 29 MLAs, 6 MPs, and around 15 lakh people, has conveyed a clear message that the NDA government will return to power in Assam in the 2026 Assembly elections.
In a statement issued today by the Assam State BJP office, it has been said that Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and BJP State President Dilip Saikia, Led “Jan Ashirwad Yatra” sought the blessings of the people while highlighting the developmental work undertaken by the NDA government and its commitment to transforming Assam into a developed state of the country. The enthusiastic and spontaneous participation of people from every section of society, especially women and youth, demonstrates the strong public support for the mission of safeguarding Assamese pride while advancing a path of unwavering development.
Over the past few days, the yatra has also garnered widespread attention and received extensive coverage across Assam’s media and social media platforms, with its news and visuals being widely circulated. The “Jan Ashirwad Yatra” has demonstrated that the blessings of the people of Assam remain firmly with the NDA government. While the programme has significantly boosted the enthusiasm and morale of BJP workers across the state, it has also sparked widespread discussion about the growing sense of unease and demoralization within the opposition and that it has psychologically weakened all opposition parties.
Since the BJP-led government assumed office in Assam in 2016, the state has witnessed an unprecedented pace of development, widely regarded as the fastest since Independence. A number of transformative projects reflect this momentum, including the Guwahati Ring Road project, the inauguration of AIIMS, the establishment of IIM, the semiconductor project at Jagiroad, the Numaligarh Bio-Ethanol project, the expansion of the Namrup fertilizer plant, the Kaziranga elevated corridor, the proposed Brahmaputra underwater tunnel connecting Gohpur and Numaligarh, Batadrava Project, Spacial steps for women empowerment, Land Pattas for Tea Tribes, the Swahid Smarak project in Guwahati, the Jyoti-Bishnu International Art Theatre at Khanapara, the Sati-Sadhani Udyan at Uzan Bazar, and the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Bridge linking Guwahati with North Guwahati, among many other ambitious initiatives.
Along with these initiatives, the establishment of medical colleges in several districts, the creation of modern cancer care centres, and transformative improvements in road connectivity have strengthened public confidence that only the BJP-led NDA government can deliver lasting peace and sustained development in Assam. It is this faith that prompted people across the state to come out in large numbers, often waiting till late in the evening to extend their blessings to the Chief Minister. The “Jan Ashirwad Yatra” will undoubtedly be remembered as an important milestone in the contemporary political journey of Assam.
