New Delhi, 10 March (H.S.): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh released the Defence Forces Vision 2047 roadmap on Tuesday at South Block, a comprehensive blueprint crafted by Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff to transform India's armed forces into a modern, integrated, and technology-driven military by 2047, aligning with the nation's developed economy aspirations.

The document emphasizes innovation, advanced technologies, and modern training frameworks to prepare the forces for future warfare challenges, outlining strategic reforms, capability enhancements, and organizational changes to navigate evolving geopolitical, technological, and security landscapes. It envisions an agile, multi-domain force capable of deterrence, multi-spectrum conflict response, and safeguarding strategic interests amid global shifts, with a core focus on jointness and synergy across services for seamless planning, operations, and development.

Self-reliance (Aatmanirbharta) takes center stage, promoting indigenous technologies tailored to India's security needs, bolstering domestic manufacturing to boost operational readiness and economic growth, structured along short-, mid-, and long-term timelines with prioritized goals, institutional reforms, and partnerships.

Singh highlighted the vision's recognition of complex security threats, integrating military might with diplomatic, technological, and economic strengths through continuous reforms and national commitment, ensuring by India's centennial independence in 2047 a globally respected, technologically advanced force contributing to a robust Viksit Bharat.
