New Delhi, 09 February (H.S.): Domestic stock markets exhibited robust strength during Monday morning's initial trading session, with both benchmark indices opening higher before a brief profit-booking dip gave way to renewed buying momentum.

The BSE Sensex commenced trading at 84,177.51, up 597.11 points, swiftly climbing to an intraday peak of 84,314.68 amid robust purchase support. Profit-taking ensued, dragging it to 83,860.42 within the first half-hour, but buyers regained control, propelling it 316.51 points or 0.38% higher to 83,896.91 by 10:15 AM.

Similarly, the NSE Nifty opened at 25,888.70, gaining 195 points, and touched 25,922.25 shortly after before sliding to 25,780.90 on sustained selling pressure. Buyers then dominated, lifting it 107.70 points or 0.42% to 25,801.40 by the same timestamp.

After the first hour, heavyweight stocks like State Bank of India, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Titan Company, and Shriram Finance traded firmly higher, with gains spanning 1.72% to 5.86%. In contrast, Max Healthcare, ONGC, Nestle, Power Grid Corporation, and Bajaj Finance declined between 0.66% and 1.30%.

Of 2,750 actively traded stocks, 2,186 advanced while 564 declined. Among Sensex's 30 constituents, 20 traded in the green against 10 in the red; for Nifty's 50 stocks, 34 gained versus 16 losses.

The indices had closed higher last Friday: Sensex at 83,580.40, up 266.47 points or 0.32%, and Nifty at 25,693.70, ahead 50.90 points or 0.20%.
