
Imphal, 08 February (HS): Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Sunday morning inspected Thangal Bazaar to review the progress of ongoing road development and renovation works aimed at redeveloping one of Imphal’s busiest commercial hubs.
The visit reflected the state government’s continued focus on improving urban infrastructure and enhancing civic amenities in major market areas. During the inspection, the Chief Minister was accompanied by Thangmeiband MLA Khumukcham Joykisan, Keishamthong MLA Nishikanta Sapam, along with senior officials from the Public Works Department (PWD), Municipal Administration, Housing and Urban Development (MAHUD) Department and the Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC).
Interacting with officials on site, Yumnam Khemchand Singh reviewed the status of the ongoing works and assessed their pace and quality. He directed the concerned departments to expedite the projects while strictly maintaining quality standards, stressing the importance of timely completion to minimise inconvenience to traders and the general public.
The Chief Minister also underlined the need for effective coordination among departments to ensure that redevelopment and beautification initiatives lead to improved mobility, safety and overall aesthetics in market areas. The inspection forms part of the government’s broader initiative to modernise urban infrastructure and revitalise traditional commercial centres across the state. -----------
