Baghpat,

8 Feb (HS): His Excellency Acharya Devvrat, Governor of Gujarat and

Maharashtra, arrived in Baghpat on Sunday. The Governor attended the

Innovation ceremony held as part of the silver jubilee year of the

Godwin Group of Institutions in Chhaprauli as the chief guest.

His

Excellency the Governor addressed the gathering at a program in Kirthal

village. According to information provided by the Information Department,

speaking on the silver jubilee of the Godwin Group, a growing educational

institution, he said that education is a treasure that provides a foundation

for continued progress. He urged parents to ensure everyone is educated,

without any discrimination between sons and daughters, as an educated member in

the household positively shapes the family's future. He emphasized the need to

regularly monitor children, foster a cultured and virtuous generation, and be

vigilant against the ill effects of drug addiction and social media among

youth. He said that in recent times, there is a growing trend of a shift away

from discipline. Therefore, it is the responsibility of parents to pay

attention to their children's company and provide them with good values,

positive thoughts, and a positive environment.

Describing

the Doab region—the fertile land situated between the Ganga and Yamuna—as an

important natural asset of the country, His Excellency mentioned the natural

farming campaign. He said that due to continuous cultivation of a single

crop—especially sugarcane—for a long time in the region, the soil is becoming

nutrient deficient, hence farmers will have to change the crop cycle. He said

that earlier during the Green Revolution, high production was achieved even

with limited amount of nitrogen as recommended, whereas currently excessive

amount of fertilizers are being used, due to which the friendly insects and

earthworms of the soil are getting destroyed. He stressed upon the farmers to

adopt natural farming.

He

also invited farmers to join the free training programs being conducted at

Gurukul Kurukshetra. On this occasion, a video based on his work related to

natural farming was broadcast, which was seen by the farmers present. District

Magistrate Asmita Lal, Additional District Magistrate (Finance/Revenue) Vineet

Upadhyay, SDM Baraut Bhavna Singh, Tehsildar Shwetaabh Singh, CO Baraut Vijay

Kumar Singh and other officials from the administration were present in the

program.
