Tinsukia (Assam), 07 February (HS): A Class VIII student allegedly died after being assaulted by a teacher at a private school in Assam’s Tinsukia district, triggering shock and grief in the locality. The incident was reported from Dumduma area of the district.

According to police, the student, identified as Utpal Tayar, was a student of Shankar Shishu Niketan located at Philobari in Dumduma. He was admitted to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) for treatment by the school authorities following the incident. However, he succumbed during treatment.

The family members of the deceased student have levelled serious allegations against a teacher of the school, identified as Sanjeev Sharma. They claimed that the student died due to injuries sustained from an assault by the teacher. Acting on the complaint, the family lodged an FIR at the local police station, holding the teacher responsible for the student’s death.

Police officials said that a detailed investigation has been initiated after receiving the complaint. “The matter is being investigated with full seriousness. If the teacher is found guilty, strict action will be taken as per law,” a police official stated.

Following the student’s death, an atmosphere of mourning has gripped the entire area. Further investigation into the incident is currently underway.-------------
