Golaghat (Assam), 07 February (HS): A child was killed on the spot after being hit by a dumper in the Bokakhat area of Golaghat district on Saturday.

According to the police, the incident occurred when a dumper rammed into the child in the Bokakhat locality. The deceased has been identified as Viraj Munda. Following the incident, local residents staged a road blockade and held a protest, expressing anger over the accident.

On receiving information, a traffic police team rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The police took custody of the child’s body and sent it to a hospital for post-mortem examination.

The protest was withdrawn after the police assured the locals of a proper investigation into the incident. An FIR has been registered, and further investigation is underway.-----------
