New Delhi/Kuala Lumpur , 07 February (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a vibrant welcome from the Indian diaspora during his official visit to Malaysia, highlighted by a traditional Wayang Kulit shadow puppet performance titled 'Titah Seri Rama' staged by artists from Akademi Arjunasukma.

Cultural Fusion Captivates PM and Diaspora

The mesmerizing Wayang Kulit show, a hallmark of Malaysian heritage, depicted episodes from the Ramayana, underscoring the epic's enduring cross-cultural appeal. PM Modi praised the performance on social media, noting how it beautifully reflected the shared cultural threads that connect us between India and Malaysia.

Held on Saturday as part of the 'Selamat Datang Modi Ji' community event, the gathering drew around 15,000 Indian-origin attendees, fostering people-to-people ties.

Ramayana's Timeless Global Resonance

Wayang Kulit, a UNESCO-recognized intangible cultural heritage, uses intricately carved leather puppets manipulated behind a screen with gamelan music to narrate classical tales. 'Titah Seri Rama' specifically portrays Lord Rama's commands, mirroring the Ramayana's profound influence in Southeast Asia, where it blends with local folklore as Hikayat Seri Rama.

This artistic bridge symbolizes the deep civilizational links, with Modi emphasizing its timeless resonance across countries in strengthening bilateral bonds.
