New Delhi, 06 February (H.S.): India’s premier iron ore producer, National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) Limited, celebrated a landmark achievement on Friday by welcoming the inaugural batch of 80 youths from Chhattisgarh’s Bastar division, all of whom secured 100% employment following successful completion of job-oriented skill training.
Implemented under NMDC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) umbrella in partnership with the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET), the Steel Ministry-backed initiative targeted tribal youth from Dantewada, Bastar, Sukma, Narayanpur, Kondagaon, and Bijapur districts—regions plagued by scarce opportunities.
The young trainees, hailing from modest backgrounds, shared poignant reflections on their transformative journey. They emphasized that the program not only delivers jobs but instills the self-assurance to venture beyond hometowns and forge independent livelihoods on their own merits.
Empowering unemployed and underprivileged tribal youth with industry-relevant competencies for enduring economic self-reliance remains the cornerstone of this endeavor. The felicitation ceremony and interactive session unfolded in the presence of NMDC’s top echelon: Chairman and Managing Director Amitabh Mukherjee; Director (Technical) and Director (Commercial, additional charge) Vinay Kumar; Director (Production) and Director (Personnel, additional charge) Joydeep Dasgupta; General Manager (CSR) P. Shyam; and Chief Director B. Ravi of CIPET, alongside senior officials from both organizations.
