
Kolkata, 05 February (H.S.): Metro services on the Blue Line were disrupted on Thursday evening after a passenger jumped onto the tracks at Rabindra Sarobar Metro station. The incident occurred at 4:46 PM.
According to metro sources, the passenger jumped onto the tracks just before a train arrived on the down line. The power supply to the line was immediately switched off to rescue the passenger, which led to the suspension of metro operations.
Following the incident, metro services were completely suspended between Rabindra Sadan and Rabindra Sarobar stations. Currently, metro services are operating on a partial route, from Maidan to Dakshineswar and from Mahanayak Uttam Kumar (Tollygunge) to Shahid Khudiram.
The incident, which occurred during peak evening hours, caused considerable inconvenience to a large number of commuters. According to the Metro Rail administration, it will take some time to restore full service.
