
Barabanki,
03 Feb (HS): A joint team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the
Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Tuesday arrested a suspect in Barabanki district,
Uttar Pradesh. The young man is suspected of having links to terrorists. The
team did not find any incriminating material during a search of his home.

Superintendent of Police Arpit Vijayvargiya confirmed that the investigation team
had arrived at the Hind Institute in Safedabad, within the city Kotwali area.
Ram Lakhan, a resident of Khor Etmadpur village in the Badosarai police station
area, was detained there. He works at an auto spare parts company in Delhi and
had come to Barabanki two days ago for his cancer-stricken mother's treatment.
Police
said Ram Lakhan is very active on social media. He has a Facebook account
called Ram Lakhan Pasi 3628, which has approximately 6.3 thousand
followers. He recently shared a post mentioning a visit to Maharaja Chhita
Pasi's fort in Sitapur on February 2. Investigating agencies are also
investigating this aspect.
Shivam,
younger brother of the arrested suspect Ram Lakhan, said that his mother, who
is suffering from cancer, is undergoing treatment at Hind Institute. Father
Jhamman and brother Ram Lakhan were present with the mother in the hospital,
when the team from outside took the brother with them. The team present in six
vehicles reached the village and searched the house for about half an hour with
the help of machines, but no objectionable item was recovered. According to the
villagers, Ram Lakhan's father Jhamman is getting his wife treated by
mortgaging 8 bighas of land out of 16 bighas. The family is going through
financial crisis.
Barabanki's
Superintendent of Police confirmed the arrest and said raids were conducted in
Khor Etamadpur village and the Hindu Institute of Medical Sciences in
Badosarai. Ram Lakhan is suspected of having terrorist connections. ATS and NIA
teams are interrogating him in Lucknow. A local police investigation is also
underway.
