Chennai, 03 February (H.S.) : The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Monday launched a sharp verbal offensive against Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder and actor-politician VIJAY, labeling his recent political assertions as fantastic dreams.
This political spat intensified after VIJAY claimed that Chief Minister MK STALIN would inadvertently ask people to vote for the 'whistle'—the TVK election symbol—even if he were startled from sleep. DMK organizing secretary and spokesperson TKS ELANGOVAN dismissed these remarks with heavy sarcasm, suggesting that the fledgling party leader was operating far from the ground reality of Tamil Nadu politics.
During a press briefing, TKS ELANGOVAN took a satirical jab at the actor's perceived lack of governance experience and his party's unproven track record. He mockingly credited VIJAY for the state's high Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and educational standards, implying that the TVK leader has contributed little to the actual development of the state compared to the DMK administration.
ELANGOVAN further remarked that it was quite fantastic how VIJAY's brain conceived a scenario where the sitting Chief Minister would promote a rival's electoral symbol. The spokesperson emphasized that while every citizen has the right to dream of becoming the Chief Minister, such claims must be backed by substantial public service.
Responding to VIJAY'S confident statement that Vijays and Vijis from every household would turn out in massive numbers to vote for TVK on polling day, the DMK leadership maintained that such rhetoric is merely a tactical move to criticize the current government. According to senior DMK officials, the state’s voters are politically mature and cannot be swayed by cinematic popularity alone.
As the 2026 Assembly elections approach, this exchange signals a deepening rivalry between the established Dravidian powerhouse and the emerging political force led by the Tamil superstar. The DMK remains firm that its governance model will withstand any challenge posed by novice political entrants.
