Prayagraj,
26 Feb (HS): The High Court upheld the closure of courses and termination of
teachers by SHUATS, directing the university to submit an explanation to the
government within three weeks. In its decision dated 26-02-2026, issued in
Petition 2155/2026 filed in the Allahabad High Court, the High Court found that
there was no irregularity in SHUATS' decision to discontinue the course and
terminate the services of the petitioner-professor.
The
High Court directed the State to take a new decision in the matter. The Court
granted SHUATS three weeks to submit its explanation or submission to the
State, after which the State will make a final decision within three weeks. The
Hon'ble High Court did not order the immediate reinstatement of the teachers,
but in its order dated 13-02-2026, the High Court ordered the teachers not to
protest/dharna at the University. The Hon'ble High Court has left open the
option of a one-time settlement/compensation for the State
petitioner-professors to the University and the State. The University reserves
the right to pursue all legal remedies. If any action is taken, it will be
initiated only after the final outcome and exhaustion of constitutional
remedies.
