Hyderabad, 25 February (HS): Parts of Hyderabad witnessed cloudy skies on Wednesday afternoon as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) – Hyderabad Centre issued an alert predicting light rain or thundershowers in certain areas of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

The alert, issued around 2.17 p.m., forecast light rain or thundershowers over the next couple of hours in Serilingampally, Qutbullapur, Kukatpally, Khairatabad, Patancheru and Alwal.

However, according to weather observations by the Telangana Development Planning Society, no rainfall was recorded in any part of the GHMC limits till 2.45 p.m.

The IMD also forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning at isolated places in Sangareddy, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Medak, Kamareddy and Mahabubnagar districts from Wednesday to Thursday morning (8.30 a.m.).

Hyderabad had received its first spell of rain this year on Monday evening, followed by showers in some peripheral areas on Tuesday morning.
