Guwahati, 25 February (HS): Gaurav Gogoi on Wednesday said he is in favour of an alliance ahead of the upcoming elections, adding that while discussions with several parties have been concluded, talks with Raijor Dal are still incomplete.
The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president said formal discussions will be held before any announcement is made, maintaining that confidentiality is part of the party’s tradition. He noted that the central leadership has sought details regarding the alliance and that a report will be submitted soon.
Reacting to recent remarks by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over his appointment as Chairperson of the India–Philippines Parliamentary Friendship Group, Gogoi said the responsibility was assigned by the Lok Sabha Speaker and questioned the relevance of the Chief Minister’s comments.-------------
