Chennai, 23 February (H.S.) : Renowned filmmaker Venkat Prabhu, who previously collaborated with actor Ajith Kumar on the blockbuster film MANKATHA, has shared his overwhelming experience after witnessing the actor's racing prowess firsthand.
The director recently visited the Yas Marina track in Abu Dhabi to support Ajith Kumar Racing during a high-stakes competition. In a viral video detailing the visit, the director expressed that while he has attended several Formula One events in the past, watching someone he personally knows compete at such extreme speeds brought a mix of intense excitement and genuine fear.
Venkat Prabhu highlighted the grueling nature of the sport, noting that drivers reach speeds between 220 and 260 kilometers per hour. He was particularly impressed by the precision of the pit crew and the physical demands placed on the athletes.
Describing the process of driver changes through car windows in a matter of seconds, the filmmaker admitted he was awe-struck by Ajith's dedication, especially considering the claustrophobic and risky environment.
He remarked that unlike cinema, racing offers no retakes and involves life-or-death stakes. During the event, he witnessed a terrifying crash and noted that despite the fierce competition, Ajith's team showed deep concern for the safety of all participants.
According to the director, Ajith Kumar is committed to creating greater awareness for motorsports within India. Venkat Prabhu also met with Indian racing legend Narain Karthikeyan and other team members during a pit walk, observing the detailed post-race analysis sessions that last for several hours.
He concluded that the actor's passion for the sport is truly mind-blowing and is significantly boosting the popularity of racing among the Indian youth. The filmmaker’s firsthand account has further fueled the admiration of fans who continue to celebrate the actor's dual success in both the film industry and the professional racing circuit.
