22 Feb (HS): As Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares to inaugurate the Meerut
Metro and the Namo Bharat Train today, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath emphasised that a new golden chapter in the state's
development is about to begin. In a post on X, CM Yogi also stated that PM Modi
will launch projects worth more than Rs 12,000 crore in the Western UP
district.
His
post on X, reads as follows: “Today, a golden chapter is going to be added to
the development journey of the 'New Uttar Pradesh'. Respected Prime Minister
Shri @narendramodi will accelerate the development journey of the 'New Uttar
Pradesh' by flagging off the 'Meerut Metro' and 'Namo Bharat' train in
Krantidhara Meerut. He will also gift various development and public welfare
projects worth approximately Rs. 12,930 crore to Meerut, a district witnessing
modern connectivity. On this occasion, the Prime Minister will dedicate the
82-km-long Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor to the nation and inaugurate the
remaining sections of the RRTS. This step will set a new example for integrated
urban and regional transport. A warm welcome and greetings to the Prime
Minister on the sacred land of Uttar Pradesh.”
At
roughly 12:30 PM, the Prime Minister will flag off the Meerut Metro and Namo
Bharat Train at Shatabdi Nagar Namo Bharat Station. From there, PM Modi will
ride the Metro to Meerut South Station. The Prime Minister will dedicate Rs. 12,930
crore worth of development projects to the country in Meerut at 1 PM. According
to the statement, he will also speak at the event.
The
Prime Minister will dedicate the whole 82-kilometre Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat
Corridor. He will open the remaining parts of India's first Namo Bharat
Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). These include the 5 kilometer portion
between Sarai Kale Khan and New Ashok Nagar in Delhi, as well as the 21 km
length between Meerut South and Modipuram in UP.
Namo
Bharat, India's first Regional Rapid Transit System, is designed to travel at
180 km per hour. It will connect important urban hubs such as Sahibabad,
Ghaziabad, Modinagar, and Meerut to Delhi more quickly.
Sarai
Kale Khan, the corridor's starting point, is one of four Namo Bharat stations
that will be commissioned during this inauguration. It is strategically placed
as a key multi-modal junction, linking Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station to
Delhi Metro's Pink Line, Veer Haqeeqat Rai ISBT, and Ring Road. The last three
Namo Bharat stations, Shatabdi Nagar, Begumpul, and Modipuram, are also in
Meerut.
