Chennai, 22 February (H.S.) : Vice President C P Radhakrishnan paid a visit to Sivaganga in Tamil Nadu on Sunday to offer his respects to the legendary freedom fighter Veeramangai Rani Velu Nachiyar.

During the visit, the Vice President emphasized that the bravery and immense sacrifices of Rani Velu Nachiyar are celebrated throughout the nation. He remarked that her life and enduring legacy serve as a vital guide for the country in its ongoing journey toward achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat. As part of the commemorative event, he also took the opportunity to interact with the descendants of the brave queen.

In addition to honoring Rani Velu Nachiyar, Vice President Radhakrishnan paid floral tributes to Raja Muthu Vijaya Raghunatha Sasivarna Periya Udaya Thevar at the Sivaganga Palace. Following these tributes, he visited the historic Sowmyanarayana Perumal Temple located in Thirukoshtiyur. While at the temple, he offered special prayers for the peace, prosperity, and general well-being of all citizens. This spiritual visit highlights the Vice President's engagement with the cultural and religious heritage of the region during his official tour.

The visit comes shortly after the Vice President participated in an event celebrating International Mother Language Day, where he released updated versions of the Constitution of India in Tamil and Gujarati. He praised the Ministry of Law and Justice for making the Constitution more accessible to citizens in their native tongues.

Radhakrishnan noted that India's linguistic diversity is a unique strength, stating that the availability of the Constitution in numerous languages is a testament to the nation's commitment to multilingualism and democratic participation.
