Hyderabad, 22 February (HS): Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Sunday condemned the alleged incident involving a woman employee at a private retail outlet in Banswada town of Kamareddy district and sought action against those responsible.

In a statement issued on February 22, the organisation described the reported act of filming videos and allegedly intimidating women employees as a violation of constitutional rights. It urged the authorities to identify those involved and register cases against them.

The VHP stated that deliberate attempts to create disturbances in the otherwise peaceful town should not be tolerated and called for an impartial inquiry. It demanded that the police take appropriate legal action against the accused and ensure protection to businesspersons and employees.

The development follows communal tension that erupted in Banswada on February 20 after an objection was reportedly raised over the playing of a devotional song at a store. The situation escalated into clashes between two groups, during which stone pelting was reported and several persons sustained injuries. Some shops in the area were also damaged.

Police personnel rushed to the spot to control the situation. During efforts to disperse the crowd, a constable was reportedly injured.

Kamareddy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Chandra said that 10 to 12 persons have been arrested in connection with the incident and that further investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi expressed concern over recent communal incidents in Telangana.

On Sunday, Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh was taken into preventive custody at Shankarampet while proceeding towards Banswada. Telangana BJP president Ramchander Rao was also placed under house arrest as a precautionary measure, police sources said.

Authorities have maintained that the situation is under control and appealed to citizens to maintain peace and harmony.
