
Jalpaiguri, 15 February (H.S.): The blood-soaked body of a young man was found under a flyover in Gaurihat area on the Jalpaiguri-Siliguri National Highway early Sunday morning. According to local sources, a motorcycle was found lying on the roadside above the flyover, while the young man's body was found about nine feet below. Initially, it is being considered a road accident, although the cause of the young man's fall remains a mystery.
The deceased has been identified as Raj Thapa (36). He was a civil engineer by profession, and his father works in the police department. Raj Thapa was a resident of Nayabasti area in Jalpaiguri. As per information, he was returning to Jalpaiguri from Siliguri on his bike. His bike was found lying on the flyover at around 4 a.m. Sunday morning, after which a search led to the discovery of his body.
On information, the police arrived at the scene, took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem. Initial estimates suggest that a speeding vehicle struck the bike from behind, causing the young man to lose his balance and fall from the flyover, dying on the spot. However, the investigation is ongoing to determine whether this was an accident or some other reason.
