Cachar (Assam), 15 February (HS): In a major anti-drug operation, the Assam Police seized 1.10 lakh Yaba tablets under Dholai Police Station in Cachar district. The contraband was recovered from a truck during a targeted operation, and two persons have been arrested in connection with the case.
Sharing the details in a post on X, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the efforts of the police force. In his social media message on Sunday, he remarked that not all tablets heal—some entice—and the government is determined to prevent such drugs from entering the state.
According to officials, the consignment was intercepted based on specific intelligence inputs. The seized Yaba tablets, a methamphetamine-based narcotic substance, are part of the state government’s intensified crackdown on drug trafficking.
The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics under the ongoing “Assam Against Drugs” campaign, which has led to multiple seizures and arrests across the state in recent years.------------
