
East Burdwan, 15 February (H.S.):
The decomposed body of a young man, missing for seven days, was recovered in Ketugram police station area of East Burdwan district on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as 39-year-old Buddhadev Majhi. The family members suspect murder and have demanded strict punishment for the culprits. The police have launched an investigation.
According to police and local sources, Buddhadev was a resident of Nirod village in Ketugram. A few years ago, his wife left home due to a family dispute. Following this, Buddhadev allegedly developed a love affair with a married woman from the same area. As per information, the woman's husband worked as a migrant laborer in another state. When the affair came to light, a dispute arose between the couple, which escalated to the police station.
According to sources, the woman had left her husband's home about three months ago and started living with Buddhadev. This had caused tension between the two families. Meanwhile, about seven days ago, Buddhadev left home and then went missing. His family filed a missing person's report at Ketugram police station.
On Sunday morning, Buddhadev's decomposed body was recovered from a drain (Nayanjuli) along National Highway 6. The police arrived at the scene immediately after receiving information and sent the body for post-mortem. The family alleged that Buddhadev was murdered.
The police said the cause of death will be confirmed based on the post-mortem report. All aspects are being investigated.
