Kolkata, 14 February (H.S.): Panic erupted at Kolkata's Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport when a bomb threat was reported on board an IndiGo flight scheduled from Kolkata to Shillong.

An official statement issued by airport management on Saturday morning stated that a handwritten note indicating a bomb was found inside the aircraft's toilet.

The note was noticed by a crew member. Upon receiving the suspicious message, the crew immediately informed the relevant security agencies and airport authorities. Emergency security protocols were activated at the airport immediately.

As a precautionary measure, the aircraft was immediately removed from the main terminal area and taken to a designated safe parking area. All necessary precautions were subsequently taken as per standard operating procedures to ensure the safety of the aircraft and passengers. The bomb disposal squad and security agencies began a thorough check of the aircraft.

The airport administration has clarified that the safety of passengers and aircraft operations is of utmost priority. The situation was continuously monitored throughout the incident, and all relevant agencies remained vigilant to address any potential threats.

An investigation is currently underway, and efforts are being made to determine the authenticity and source of the suspicious slip. Necessary assistance was provided to passengers, and security measures have been further tightened.
