Kolkata, 09 January (H.S.): The Trinamool Congress has levelled serious allegations against the central government regarding the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) actions and the events that unfolded in Delhi. On Friday, the Trinamool Congress issued a post on the social media platform X, directly targeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Delhi Police.
In its post, the Trinamool Congress alleged that democratically elected representatives are being attacked by the Delhi Police to suppress dissenting voices. The party questioned whether the Delhi Police is now being used to crush democracy and whether this is the ‘new India’ where dissent is silenced by force.
The post claimed that first, the Enforcement Directorate was “shamelessly misused,” and now, the peaceful protest of eight of the party's MPs has been attacked. The party stated that all this exposes the central government's panic and desperation.
The Trinamool Congress alleged that democratic institutions are being misused to suppress the voice of the opposition, but Bengal will not be intimidated. The post stated that no matter how many attacks the central government launches, the fight for democracy will continue.
Concluding its scathing message, the Trinamool Congress condemned the role of the Delhi Police, saying, “Shame on you and your police.”
