New Delhi, 09 January (H.S.): Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta suspended four Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs—Somdutt, Jarnail Singh, Sanjeev Jha, and Kuldeep Kumar—for the remaining duration of the Winter Session on Friday, citing repeated violations of House decorum and continuous disruptions to proceedings. This action, taken on the session's fifth and final day, aligns with the Assembly's procedural rules to safeguard its dignity, discipline, and privileges.

The decision marks the second suspension for these members during the extended session, originally slated for January 5-8 but prolonged to January 9.Speaker Gupta emphasized that the opposition legislators' persistent interference compelled the measure, underscoring the need to protect legislative decorum.

Earlier, on the opening day of Monday, January 5, the same four AAP MLAs faced a three-day suspension for creating pandemonium during Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena's address.

Friday's unrest echoed prior clashes, with AAP members reportedly marshalled out after protesting issues like a controversial video alleging disrespect toward Guru Tegh Bahadur. The Winter Session, resuming after two days of washouts over BJP's allegations against Leader of Opposition Atishi, saw AAP legislators demand forensic examination of the video and resignations from BJP figures.

Despite brief adjournments and resumed business—including constituency matters under Rule 280, water supply statements, and passage of supplementary grants and the Delhi Appropriation Bill 2026—the House adjourned amid acrimony. This episode highlights escalating political tensions in the national capital's legislature.
